Notebooks must be neat and original. Each section should be tabbed.




REQUIREMENTS

2.Table of Contents
3.Introduction of Self - Can Include Pictures
4.Why you chose the project
5.Large livestock record book/small animals include project cost
6.About your animal - how you obtained animal, pedigree, medical, etc.
7.4-H related materials - meetings, shows, clinics, manuals, promoting 4-H
8.Showmanship (guidelines, pictures, diagrams, safety rules, etc.)
9.Other: Teen Leader/Leadership experiences, Resource people, Other related experiences (carcass, judging, etc.)




STILL EXHIBIT NOTEBOOK REQUIREMENTS

Notebook must be neat and original. Information should be placed in a three-ring binder with the current year on top down to the oldest info. Each section needs to have a tab/divider.


The following information must be included each year. You must expand your knowledge each year in your project.

4. Nutrition (what you feed your animal/feeding schedules)
5. Label body parts (minimum 5)

2ND YEAR
1.Describe two additional breeds
2.Describe two common diseases, including symptoms, treatment, preventative
3.Nutrition (how was nutrition improved from previous year) - list ingredients
4.Label body parts (minimum 10)

3RD YEAR
1. Describe two additional breeds
2. Describe two additional common diseases - symptoms, treatment, preventative
3. Identify/label five meat cuts
4.Label body parts (minimum 15)
5. Training methods

4TH YEAR
1. Grooming (should include diagrams, pictures, list of tools, techniques, foot/leg care, etc.)
2. Describe two additional breeds
3. Describe two additional common diseases - symptoms, treatment, preventative
4.Identify/label 10 meat cuts, if applicable
5. Label body parts
6.Breeding (gestation, basics, types, etc.)

5TH YEAR
1. Describe two additional breeds
2. Describe two additional common diseases - symptoms, treatment, preventative
3. Label body parts
4.Identify/label 15 meat cuts, if applicable
5. Genetics (basic info used in breeding)
6.Describe the following that pertains to your animal - tail docking, wing clipping, dehorning

6TH YEAR

4. Describe castration in your animal and animal ID
5.What is a judge looking for in your market animal

7TH+ YEAR
1. Meet previous years requirements
2. Describe two additional breeds each year
3. Describe two additional diseases/medical issues
4. Choose two of the following for each additinal year: business plan, attend educational show/clinic, describe advanced housing, describe advanced equipment, give demo/speech about animal, describe digestive system and label, describe circulatory system and label, describe respiratory system and label, describe nervous system and label, describe skeletal system and label, describe muscular system and label, describe dermal (skin) system and label, list industrial uses of your animal, 10 recipes, transportation methods, careers, and/or legal issues.
