




| AGE |
| All market poultry must be hatched after January 1 of current year or at least 3 months old by Fair. All breed classes must be at least a minimum of 3 months old by July 9th. |
| HOW MANY ANIMALS SHOWN |
An exhibitor can enter two market pen for each of the following:
chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. |
| ATTIRE |
| Dress Code: White pants with long-sleeved white shirts, dark pants optional, no blue jeans. |
| MEDICAL |
| All poultry entered in the Van Buren County Fair must have a certificate indicating that they are free of pullorum-typhoid within 90 days of the Fair date. There will be a testing and banding clinic. Cost is minimal. |
| IDENTIFICATION |
| All poultry must be banded. Banding will be done at a clinic hosted by SMAC. |
| SHOWMANSHIP |
| All poultry exhibitors must enter one Showmanship class. Poultry must be shown by exhibitor in showmanship classes. Exhibitors may not show in more than one showmanship class. |
| CONTAINMENT |
Padlocks on cages is optional. The Van Buren Youth Fair superintendents, leaders, and SMAC are not responsible for lost, escaped, or stolen poultry. |
| SALE OF ANIMAL |
The Grand Champion Eggs and Reserve Grand Champion Eggs will be auctioned at the start of the poultry sale; proceeds will be donated to SMAC. |
Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Market Animals must be sold at the auction. All exhibitors may sell their market animals, but they must inform the division superintendent by the required deadline. |
| NOTEBOOKS | |
| Per Young Explorers Rules, each exhibitor must complete an educational project on Poultry Animals. All notebooks to be judged must conform to Van Buren County notebook rules. | |
