VAN BUREN COUNTY FAIR
DAIRY GOAT EXHIBITOR RULES


AGE
Goats must be in the exhibitors possession on or before May 1 of the current year, except for kids born to a doe owned by the exhibitor. All goats are required to have a USDA eartag.

TYPE OF GOAT
Exhibitors will enter and show only Does or Wethers - no Bucks or Buck Kids permitted

Wethers over one year old and Does two years old, never freshened, are not eligible to be entered or shown in Dairy Goat show. Dry does may be shown in Produce of Dam, Dam Daughter, Breeders Trio.

Goats within three weeks of kidding will not be allowed.


ATTIRE
Show ring dress code is no longer all white. State level changed the dress code to white shirts and dark pants.

SALE OF GOAT
Wethers in Junior and Senior Wether MAY be sold at the Small Animal Market Auction. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion wethers must be sold at the auction. Wethers may be shown in only one wether class. All wethers to be sold must be at least eight (8) weeks old.

CONTAINMENT
All goat exhibitors are (or may be) required to furnish pens according to the plans available at the Extension Office.

”Milk-out” will be 6:00 p.m. or later the night before the show.

All Dairy Goat exhibits shall have collars. Dairy goats may be handled in the show ring with COLLARS ONLY. The showmanship goat and the best udder goat must be entered in a market, breeding, or special class.


NOTEBOOKS
Per Young Explorers Rules, each exhibitor must complete an educational project on Goats. All notebooks to be judged must conform to the Van Buren County notebook rules.
