Ike was a 13 year old Appaloosa gelding that warmed the heart of his owner Kelly. The first time Kelly laid eyes on him, she knew that this would be the greatest horse that she ever owned. He had the greatest laid back personally and a willingness to do anything. He touched the hearts of everyone that was around him.
Together, Kelly and Ike stormed the show ring winning many events at the Van Buren Youth Fair and open shows, as well as on the Michigan Appaloosa Horse Club Circuit. Ike and Kelly together won over 150 national points in: Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Equitation, Showmanship, Western Riding, and Bareback. In 2002, they were Top Ten in the nation in Western Equitation with 13.5 national points, Multiple ROMS's including Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Equitation, Hunter Under Saddle, and Showmanship, along with many hi-points and state champions.
Ike was laid to rest on Tuesday, October 5, 2004, in the evening hours after being found in his pasture brutally attacked by the neighbor's bull. This was a freak accident that claimed a best friend to a recently graduated 4-H member. Although Ike is not with us, he will always be in our hearts!!!
