On February 22, 2003, several 4-H Dog Members accompanied Dog Leader Becky VanHeukelum and a couple of parents to the IKC Benched Dog Show in Chicago, Illinois. A bench show is different from a regular dog show in that all dogs shown must stay for the entire day. It is called a "bench" show because the dogs crates sit upon a slightly raised bench.
The show was huge, having over 100 vendors and offering confirmation, junior showmanship, obedience, and agility (3 rings). Every kind of dog imaginable was at the show. The handlers were mostly friendly which made for an enjoyable day of learning and fun.
