SHADOW Black and White Female Border Collie

It was with great sadness that we said good-bye to Shadow in August, 2008. Shadow was one of the most incredible dogs ever known. While it is sometimes hard to know who trains a dog in a family full of handlers, Keili Howard made it a personal mission to fully train Shadow through the open obedience level. Shadow performed open obedience, advanced agility, and freestyle. She was one of the few dogs in our 4-H Club to ever reach the open level and was one of our first dancing dogs.

She was the confidence of many children and the faithful watchdog that kept away bad dreams in the night. She was an inspration and motivation to many 4-H members, as well as a dog trainer herself when other dogs learned from her in observational training. Shadow will be greatly missed.

At the County Fair, Shadow received nineteen first place accomplishments with the VanHeukelum family over the last seven years. Shadow and Keili achieved seven first place State Dog Show awards, including High Points Obedience for the entire State Dog show in 2001 and 2003 with a perfect score in 2001. She had a Beginner Pairs Junior Dancing Title with Katy Massey/Shelly to the song Sisters from White Christmas. She earned her AKC CD Title in May, 2003, and also had an AKC Canine Good Citizen Title.

Shadow was one of two dogs in Van Buren County to meet Mario Lopez on Animal Planet's Pet Star in 2003 when she took an airplane to Hollywood.
