| Freestyle Obedience, commonly referred to as "Dancing with Dogs", is a fun activity that is fast growing in popularity throughout the country. It involves a combination of style, rhythm, obedience, and performing arts. The handler choreographs a dance that will show off their ability to smoothly interact with their dog in time to music. The choreography will include obedience skills, as well as tricks. Handlers are encouraged to wear costumes, while dogs are limited to fancy collars and paw cuffs. |

In 2002, the Van Buren County Fair hosted its first ever, Freestyle Obedience - Dancing with Dogs Exhibition. The exhibition continues each year since 2002. In addition to fair demonstrations, Young Explorers have demonstrated freestyle obedience at nursing homes and as fundraisers for many southwest Michigan humane societies and shelters. |
| Young Explorers also compete in WCFO (World Canine Freestyle Organization) in the junior division in both heel-to-music and freestyle music events.
