CALI CAT
Female Calico Cornish Rex

Cali Cat was our first exposure to the Rex family. We drove to Muskegon to pick her up at Sun-Kits Cattery in 2003. She was a breeding momma and was retiring. While we were there, the Fabian girls also took home a Tortoiseshell Cornish Rex. Cali is the only cat we've ever had that came with a Cat Fanciers registration. She was born on February 13, 2000, and her registered name was "Ms. Touchstone Dancer". She passed on Friday, March 4, 2011, from complications related to feline dental disease.

Cali was an unique cat and not only because of her wavy Cornish Rex fur. She had a way of being a "creeper". She would start at the bottom of the bed, working slowly, ever so slowly, inching her way up, up, up until she was at the top. Sometimes she would move her paws so slowly when she was creeping up on you that it was almost like a mannequin.

Cali was not a shy cat and she sucked up to the Judges at Fair like nobody's business. She was a "shoulder sitter" and would ride on top of people's shoulders. At parties, she would move from shoulder to shoulder throughout the evening. From 2003 to 2010, she was a demonstration cat for Michigan 4-H Cat activities, meeting 4-H friends annually at MSU 4-H Exploration Days and every other year at the 4-H Kettunen Center Companion Animal trainings.

Cali will be remembered for her ladylike features and beautiful energy. She won the Reserve Grand Champion Cat at the Van Buren County Fair in 2005 with handler Nic Massey; and Grand Champion Cat at the Van Buren County Fair in 2004 with handler Katy Massey.
