Yellow Myron, aka "Yellow" or "Myron", was born on the Martinez farm from their female cat, "Barn", in 1999. He was originally named "Taloose" after the "Aristocats". But, that name was too difficult for Kyle and Bri to pronounce as they were only 4 and 2 yrs old, so he became Yellow. Kyle later added Myron to his name because it sounded to him like Ryan, his friend. Yellow was originally Bri's kitty, but he became Kyles when we brought him in the house.

Yellow had a different personality, he was a cat that loved water. You could bath him in a tub of water and he would just lay there (probably from Bris training). He would see Bri coming and just lay still like he was hiding, he never ran away or even really squirmed when she was playing with him as 2yr olds do! He liked water so much he would jump in the bath tub with Kyle and stay until the water got about knee deep! He always prefered to drink water from the dripping tub faucet and taught the other house cats to do the same-they still lap from that dripping faucet. He also liked to drink the saline solution out of Mrs. Martinez' contacts and would meet her at the bathroom sink every morning for his "drink".

Myron was also a very tolerable kitty (except for showing at fair-he liked to scratch then!) Kyle would put him in a little ladybug doll stroller, with a blanket of course, and push him through the house-at 100 miles per hour, hitting every "speed bump" he could find! But Yellow never jumped out. He was also Kyle's bed partner, and would lay by the stuffed animals where he would do "happy feet". Once Kyle fell asleep, Yellow would get up to make his rounds. He was also a "guard cat". When we would go on vacation, grandma would come over to do the chores. She was kind of afraid of Yellow because he would "stalk" her and she wasn't convinced he wouldn't attack!

Yellow was a very special friend for the Martinez family, but especially for Kyle, who loved him very much. He has a small stuffed animal that looks like Myron and still sleeps with it. They had many adventures together, I can't recall all of them, but I do know that Yellow Myron loved Kyle.

Yellow became sick in October '03 with what appeared to be a routine ear infection. When treated it did not go away, so he was taken to the Paw Paw Vet clinic where Dr. Ann Marie Baker found a small growth in the ear. In early December the tumor (diagnosed as an Eosinphillic growth-not uncommon but uncommon in the ear) was removed and tested negative for cancer. Yellow got to wear one of those cloth E collars (he looked kind of like a frilled lizard).

Early in January, 2004, he was taken back for reocurring problems. He had started to walk sideways, which was caused from a returning infection that caused his equalibrium to be off. He was treated with antibiotics and eyedrops as his eye became unable to close. In February Dr. Baker offered to keep Yellow at his office, free of charge, while the Martinez went on vacation. When they got back, a miracle had occurred and Yellow was back to normal! (Kyle had prayed a lot!) Even the vet was amazed. The growth came back a couple months later. A lot of time was spent going to the vet. Yellow would be well for about 2 weeks and then go back to the "hospital" for a week or so. He was very tolerant of the meds which he was given daily when he was home. He still wanted his contact solution every morning and he always purred. A special thank you to Dr. Duane Baker for donating his time and meds to Yellow. He really loved Yellow and always squeezed him in on a moment's notice. Without the excellent care and donations, he would have had to be put down in February or sooner.

In August, his breathing became difficult, and it was decided that it was time to euthanize Yellow. On August 19th, Kyle and Mrs. Martinez were there to help Dr. Baker put him down. He purred to the end.

Dr. Baker did an autopsy on Yellow for scientific purposes, and it was found that Yellows tumor had turned cancerous. What started out as an Eosinphillic growth had become terminal lymphosarcoma and treatment would only have prolonged his life for approximately a month. At the Paw Paw vet clinic, on the walls of their rooms are monitors, and below these monitors is an explanation of the technology used to help diagnose and treat Yellow. There are also pictures of a tumor, that's Yellows tumor.

Everyone, including Dr. Baker (who was really quite attached to him) miss Yellow very much, he was very special.
