EXPLORATION DAYS

Each year, Michigan State University (MSU) offers a program called "Exploration Days" to 4-H youth ages 11-19. The program is held in June on Michigan State's East Lansing Campus. Members stay in the college dorms from Wednesday to Friday.
2005 Van Buren County State Award Nominees

At Exploration Days, regional State award nominees gather to finalize the selection of State 4-H Award winners. Each nominee meets with an interview panel on Wednesday afternoon. Then, on Thursday morning, they meet to rehearse the awards ceremony. On Thursday evening, nominees dress formally for a reception and state awards ceremony at the Wharton Center.

Congratulations to Young Explorers members who participated in the State Awards Program.

In addition to State Awards, 4-H members participate in a variety of fascinating workshops. Choices range from showing livestock, to making ice cream, to making a skirt. Also while on campus, members have the opportunity to explore Michigan State's gardens, planetarium, ice cream shop, book store, sports centers, dormitories, swimming pool, and union hall.

As a result of a generous donation by the Van Buren County Leader's Association, 4-H members attended the MSU program at a cost of $50 each in 2005.
