Show interest in your 4-Hers project(s), encouragement and praise are always welcomed.
Provide materials that are needed for the project. Pay the Project Leader promptly if he/she purchases any materials for your child.
Provide transportation or assist with car pools.
Support your 4-H leaders. Get to know them and let them know you appreciate their efforts.
Plan to be involved in the 4-H Club either as a Project Leader or by helping with club activities. Volunteer – don't wait to be asked.
Support your 4-Hers at shows, meetings, during fair week, whenever you can. Show a genuine interest.
See that your child completes a project once started. Don't encourage him/her to be a quitter. But let the 4-Hers do their own work.
Become involved. Participate. The more you become involved in what your child is doing, the more it will mean to both of you, and the more you and your child will get out of it.
Let the Project Leader know in advance if your child cannot attend a meeting. Help your child make up work missed.
Attend both the first and last club meeting of the year with your child to help enroll and pay dues and get all fair forms and instructions. If possible, attend other club meetings as well, and volunteer to help.
See that dues are paid promptly.
Call your Key Leader whenever your child cannot attend a club meeting and try to avoid conflicts with that meeting time. If you can't attend, find out what you missed and what you need to do, that is your responsibility, not that of a Key Leader.
Help your child keep accurate and complete records of their 4-H activities.
